When a retaining wall starts to give out, it's not something you can put off. A failing wall means shifting soil, uneven ground, and real safety concerns - especially when kids are in the picture. This homeowner needed it handled fast, and that's exactly what we did.
The original wall was gone. We were working in a tight corridor right along the property line, which doesn't leave a lot of room for error. We demo'd what was left, cleared the debris, and started fresh with a proper rebuild using concrete block - the kind of wall that's actually built to last and hold back that grade without moving on you.
Once the wall was rebuilt, we added a horizontal wood fence with a wide gate on top. That combo - solid wall below, fence above - creates a clean separation while also giving the yard a real sense of structure. The gate was specifically sized to be functional for everyday use, not just decorative.
For families with young kids, that gate changes everything. Instead of worrying about what's on the other side of that wall, parents get peace of mind. It's a practical upgrade that also happens to look sharp from both sides of the property.
Working tight to a property line with walls, a fence, and a gate all in play takes real coordination. We moved this job up on the schedule because the situation called for it - and we got it done right. That's just how we operate.
